Researchers note that while people may shift between introversion and extroversion, everyone has a stable baseline. The higher your trait extroversion, the more interaction you need to feel fulfilled; the lower it is, the more solitude restores you. The discussion draws on the Big Five personality model and the so-called “dancing frog” effect, how some people light up socially only when they feel safe or seen. Personality, they suggest, isn’t fixed, it flexes with context.
